About

Hello and welcome to my site. My name is Liam Parkin, and I'm an artist from England. I've had the ambition to travel around the world since I was a young boy, and during university I decided that I would fulfill that ambition on two wheels - a bicycle.

I left my home, a boat on the beautiful Leeds-Liverpool canal in the heart of Yorkshire on 30/04/2012 with the aim of cycling around the world. Unfortunately I didn't get very far. I was able to just manage to cycle to Germany before I had to admit defeat due to an earlier knee injury that resurfaced two weeks before I was due to depart.

I spent a year trying to get back on the bike, but it wasn't to be, so my next step was to get a bicycle with an engine; a Honda c90. I acquired my motorcycle licence two months before I left home again, and on 10/09/2013 I left home with the intention of riding it around the world.
My trip came to an abrupt end again, however, when I fell into the Congo River in D.R Congo with my bike and all my belongings, and once again I admitted defeat - although, returning home that time was easier as I was ready to come.

I spent a lot of time soul-searching the following year and I have now come to the conclusion that I am not going to set off around the world on one specific vehicle, nor to try and do one specific, world-wide challenge anymore. I love to travel, and I don't think I will ever stop. Yet I am not going to put the pressure of achieving self made goals on myself any longer. It's not why I want to travel. I want to learn, observe, get experience, come home with ideas and live memories. Not break records.
And so, this site will be now dedicated to a multitude of world-wide journeys that I am going to do throughout my life.

Currently I am riding a 110cc motorcycle I bought in Saigon, Vietnam, where I'm going to ride it as far as I can around the region until I have to come home at the end of March.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the site!
